Central Church is a growing church that has deep roots within the community. It has a heart to serve the surrounding communities and be active in reaching out. We are prayerfully looking for a candidate to join our team and serve the church and community.
Having experience with Quick Book would be a plus, but is not required as the individual will be trained.
Fergus/Elora is located 20 minutes north of Guelph and is a growing community. It has the small town feel but with all the amenities. It is a beautiful community to live in.

Job Overview
To assist in the administrative and financial procedures of the church and its ministries.
General Church Administration: 40%
Reception duties – in person and via telephone.
Correspondence – letter and e-mail.
Pick up/drop-off mail at Elora Post Office; sort and distribute to staff.
Maintain church records of child dedications, water baptisms, weddings and funerals.
Maintain calendar of all church events.
Coordinate room rentals and usage.
Update Membership list as required.
Maintain accurate church family contact information.
Prepare Sunday service bulletins and liaison with community group re: folding.
Prepare posters and sign-up sheets for upcoming events as required.
Record Sunday attendance numbers.
Prepare agendas and required attachments for staff meetings and Board meetings.
Prepare Annual Report in advance of Annual Business Meeting.
Prepare Board nomination ballots.
Prepare required items for Nomination Committee meeting.
Prepare required items for Annual Business Meeting.
Assist staff and volunteers with preparation of documents, printing, photocopying, accessing supplies, etc.
Order offering envelopes for the upcoming year.
Purchase office supplies.
Purchase cleaning supplies, coffee/refreshment and event supplies.
Schedule grounds maintenance contracting, equipment rental and volunteers.
Bookkeeping: 45%
With a team of individuals, count and prepare bank deposit of weekly offerings.
Track and record account receivables for event registrations
Enter donations and receivables into Planning Center and QuickBooks software programs.
Enter accounts payable invoices, mileage expenses, and credit card purchase receipts; and issue payments using QuickBooks software.
Work with the Lead Pastor, Budget Committee and Board to prepare annual budget.
Reconcile monthly bank statements.
Issue monthly support cheques to National and District offices, and other mission organizations.
Prepare monthly payroll and pension plan remittances.
Maintain payroll records and issue pay cheques.
Prepare monthly financial statements for Board meetings.
Update Budget spreadsheets for departments; quarterly or as required.
Prepare year-end reports and documents for accountant audit.
Issue income tax receipts after year-end.
Issue T4 statements to employees after year-end.
Prepare and file required annual forms to Canada Revenue Agency, District and National offices.
Update bank signing authority and other documents as required.
Issue six-month giving statements to donors after June 30th.
Submit HST Refund application after June 30th and December 31st each year.
Other Duties: 15%
Facilitate janitorial position. Coordinate volunteers for church maintenance.
Prepare and submit well water tests to lab every 3 months.
Purchase and prepare communion on the first Sunday of each month.
Prepare funeral service bulletins, order floral tributes and coordinate lunch preparations.
Purchase and distribute benevolent gifts (flowers, grocery gifts, memorial donations etc.)
Maintain list of building key-holders and alarm codes.
Schedule annual fire drill for a Sunday morning.
Coordinate and purchase food supplies for annual church family picnic.
Order burning permit from Township.
Set-up for Bible study groups and meetings.
Prepare coffee for Sunday morning service and Men’s Bible study group.
Coordinate decorating committee.
Help with opening and closing for events as required.
